Each year, secondary school students from all over the island of Ireland are invited to submit their short animated films to the national YAOTY Awards. And this year, YAOTY is also open to students in their FIRST YEAR of college! Set in magical Dingle, on the most westerly peninsula of Europe, Animation Dingle is a festival that was created for students and has been moulded by them over the years. Open to 4th, 5th and 6th year secondary school students in the Republic of Ireland Yr11, Yr12 and 6th Form secondary school students in Northern Ireland AND first year students in college/university in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.

First Cut Youth Film Festival is thrilled to announce that submissions for the 2025 festival are now being accepted from individual filmmakers aged 12-24 and from secondary schools, colleges and youth groups. Every type of film under 15 minutes is welcome, including fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, Irish language and music video. There is no entry fee. First Cut also has a special category in its open call programme for films made in schools.

ECO-UNESCO’s Young Environmentalist Awards (YEA) is an all-Ireland programme that rewards and recognises young people aged between 10-18 who take environmental action. Since its inception in 1999, YEA has involved 65,000 young people across Ireland.  The YEA programme is a fun and exciting way to empower young people to become better citizens, to build awareness of environmental issues in the community and promote local actions and lifestyle changes to the environment.  The YEA is free to enter and open to any group (2-25 members) of young people aged 10-18 years in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
